32% raise for UC students... I'd be pissed too

Well well well, the money used on the upkeep of prisons across this state has finally been realized. I find that quite funny. Seems as though as long as you keep people content and not struggling AS MUCH as they could be, everybody keeps their mouths shut. But now, this new 32% hike in spending for the students within the UC system might be just what this state has needed to open peoples eyes to the fact that everything is off-the-chain and NOT in a positive way.

LA times writes, The regents faced a large and noisy rally at the UCLA hall where they met, and demonstrations were held at several other UC campuses across the state. But regents, some saying it was the toughest decision of their tenure, contended they could not avoid the fee hikes without damaging the academic quality of the 10-campus, 229,100-student university.

That's a lot of people to piss off! :) My attitude towards this whole rise in fees is rather smug. I have no sympathy for a state who has elected the terminator to govern and call shots for the 3rd LARGEST state in the U.S.A.

The meeting was interrupted three times with anti-fee-hike chants and choruses of "We Shall Overcome," leading to 14 arrests. Outside, some in a crowd of about 500 students and labor-union activists threw sticks and other objects and pushed against a large contingent of campus police in riot gear. Several students and police suffered minor injuries, police said.

O I think I've heard about something like this before....

All in all, my heart goes out to those students who were struggling financially BEFORE this hike to gain an education in addition to those who will be forced to drop out of school because they can't afford to stay. Keep your heads up and don't give up.

And to all of us who think this doesn't directly affect us, beware... you're not that far away from some drastic financial strain hitting your dream or lifestyle. For as long as our society values bars over books, we're all phucked!

A young man's thoughts on marriage

"I just thought about "marriage" (not as if I'm gettin' married anytime soon) but the whole concept. Spending your life, sharing your life and creating life with someone for the rest of your time on Earth. Nothing is separated. You really have to love this person unconditionally and grow together. Man, that's the deep end of the pool right there."

I received this RANDOM text 35 minutes after I had gotten to work. My friend's reflection on marriage really made me sit and think about his words. The rest of your life. Many of us girls (and some guys) are so in a rush to get married, but really, when you think about what you are rushing to get into... it can actually make you want to slow down and take a seat. You have to REALLY like a person to have to be connected to them for the rest of your existence. I guess it really is the deep end of the pool.
